First Call For Papers:
CybErg'2002, The Third international Cyberspace Conference on Ergonomics
This is the First Call for Papers for CybErg'2002, the Third International Cyberspace Conference on Ergonomics. CybErg'2002 is an international virtual conference that uses the WWW as a conference venue. The conference will be interactive from 1-30 September 2002. Research, theoretical, professional, and review papers are encouraged from all areas of ergonomics (cognitive, physical and organisational ergonomics), human-computer interaction, health, safety and human well-being. In particular, we would welcome submissions that are related to issues in industrially developing countries. People wishing to submit a review paper should consult with the CybErg'2002 Chair, before submitting an abstract to ascertain the suitability of the review paper to the conference.
Papers - Deadlines
Extended abstracts of approximately 600 words are due by 1 March 2002. Late submissions may not be accepted. The submission of the abstract should preferably be done on the CybErg website, but emailed attachments are also acceptable. Abstracts will be peer-reviewed by a panel of international reviewers, and successful presenters will be notified by 25 April 2002. The final papers of approximately 3000 words must be submitted by 15 June 2002. Late submissions may not be included in the CD-ROM proceedings.
Symposia
We would also encourage proposals for symposia. Proposals for symposia should be approximately 300 words in length outlining the topic of discussion, possible position statements (approximately three position statements) and suggested names of people who would be willing to write the position papers.
Short Communications
In addition to the full-length papers we are encouraging submissions for short communications. Short communications are pieces of work in progress, or student's work that is seeking additional comment. Submissions of 300 word abstracts are due by 15 April 2002. The abstracts will be peer reviewed and successful presenters of short communications will be informed by 15 May 2002. We would also encourage graphics, photographs and short video inserts as suitable inclusions in short communication papers. The final short communication paper should be approximately 1200 words and must be submitted by the 15 June 2002. Late submissions may not be included in the CD-Rom proceedings.
Given the flexibility of the WWW, presenters are encouraged to use diverse media in their papers. Successful presenters must undertake to attend CybErg'2002 regularly while the conference is interactive, and to participate in discussions on their paper. The suitability of all papers will be assessed according to their international appeal and their advancement of scientific knowledge.
Publication Opportunities
There are numerous publication opportunities emanating from papers presented at CyErg'2002. All papers will be published on the CD-Rom conference proceedings. A selection of papers dealing with industrially developing countries' issues will be published in the journal ergonomics SA, and a selection of the best papers from the conference may be published in the International Journal of Industrial Ergonomics.
